| | Ran with Ben after our temple trip, so it was a little later in the day. He decided to do three and I couldn't catch him. I averaged 8:17/mi, but he beat me by at least a minute. Then, I went out to do 9 more. It went well until the last mile, when I lost my energy in the hot 70 degrees sunny weather. I almost fainted in the shower and I'm still really wiped out. My average speed for the second 9.63 was 8:34/mile, which was pretty good. I hope that an effort like that will reap rewards. | Add Comment |

Ran to the mouth of the canyon and back. Goal was to increase my pace for each consecutive mile, which was not too difficult because first 3 miles were mostly uphill and last three were mostly downhill. 6.06 miles in 53:02 or 8:46/mi with these splits: 9:25, 8:59, 8:48, 8:41, 8:32, 8:14, 7:13 (.06 miles).
Ben decided not to run with me, but hopefully he does later today. The days are long enough that I can start running into the canyon very early in the mornings. | Add Comment |

Short night, short run, but at least I ran. It took 25:57 tp rim 3.03 miles, which is 8:34/mile. | Add Comment |
| | Nice run to the mouth of the canyon and back. Head wind going up and tail wind coming back. 6.35 miles took 55:32 for an average pace of 8:45/mile. Sought to increase pace each mile again, but mile 4 was 2 seconds slower than mile 3. | Add Comment |
| | Ran the steep hill route and followed instructions not to push it too hard because I need to work at home today in preparation for Brian and Charlotte's wedding. Non-remarkable numbers were 6.1 miles in 57:01 for an average pace of 9:21. Last night, my whole family (8 children, 3.95 spouses, and 5 grandchildren) went to Pizza Pie Cafe where Alma was working and we kept him very busy. We had 18 in the party and it was all smiles all evening for me. It was well worth the two pounds I gained. | Add Comment |
| | Brian and I both ran nearly the same route this morning. But I didn't know he was going to run until I saw him at the end of my run. Tonight, we will be in Logan and tomorrow Brian and Charlotte will get married! Ran 6.08 miles in 55:28 for a 9:07 pace overall. Splits were 9:53, 9:26, 9:21, 9:00, 8:42, 8:27, and 8:03. Going up against the wind was especially difficult.

| | 5.49 in 46:24 or 8:27/mile. Hopefully, I can achieve 30 miles this week. Summer weather brought 71 degrees this morning, but it was still pretty tolerable. | Add Comment |

Went to the mouth of the canyon and back. Met Travis along the way who was going on a 20-mile bike ride. He missed the PCM due to an injury, but is doing well with biking.
Ran 6.14 in 53:04 or 8:39/mile. | Add Comment |

Planned about 6.5 miles and ran further because of a road closure. Ended up running 8.12 in 1:15:49 at a slow pace of 9:19/mile

| | Ran up and down the steep hill, which was 5.05 miles in 45:04 or 8:55/mile. Mile 3 was almost three minutes faster than mile 2 with the steepest incline. Weather was great. | Add Comment |
| | Went part way up the canyon and back. Ben isn't running with me much any more because he's running with the cross country team. Also, his shin splints are bothering him and he wanted an extra day of rest. Mile paces ranged from 9:33 to 8:07, increasing with each mile except for one. Average overall pace was 8:50/mile and total time was 1:29:51 | Comments(1) |
| | I'm in Appleton, WI this morning. Elevation only about 700 feet. 56 degrees, flat. I,d call that ideal and an opportunity not to be missed. So, I got out onto strange roads this morning and ran 6.29 in 52:22, or 8:20/mile. Splits were 9:39, 8:12, 8:06, 7:54, 7:51, 8:12, and 8:12. Brian and Charlotte are having a second wedding reception today. So we are in vacation mode | Add Comment |
| | Back home. Ran up and down Provo canyon for a very nice run: 7.18 miles in 1:01:29 or 8:34/mile with these splits: 9:15, 8:52, 8:49, 8:41, 8:29, 8:10, 7:54, 7:28. It may be the first time I've been successful in increasing my speed with each mile. I definitely had increased energy due to all the rest I've had this week. | Add Comment |
| | Two hard runs in a row and heat makes a difference. When I started my run up the canyon, it was 54 degrees. When I finished, it was 80 degrees. That's up by 26 degrees during the 1:46:19 that it took me to run 12.08 miles, which averages 8:48/mile. I drank twice on the trip, but I still lost 3.5 pounds of fluid and am still in recovery mode from the run. | Add Comment |
| | 5.43 miles in 46:22, or 8:33/mile. Mile 1 was slowest at 8:49 and mile 5 was fastest at 8:04. | Add Comment |
| | Got up early and ran 7.29 miles in 1:02:49 at an average pace of 8:36/mile. | Comments(2) |
| | GPS wouldn't cooperate this morning. I'm guessing I ran at least 14.1 miles to bridal veil falls and back and it took about 2 hours and 5 minutes. That comes out to about 8:52/mile. | Add Comment |
