Running Accomplishments:

Ran first marathon after 18 months of training (minus injury time) at age 52 in Logan, Utah on Sept 18, 2010.  Time was 4:16:56 compared to a goal of 4:15.

Second marathon was Oct 1, 2011 in the heat of St George.  Time fell to 4:52:27.

Short-Term Running Goals:

With two marathons behind me, my next goal is to run one in under 4 hours and potentially qualify for Boston within 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

My primary physical goal is to live a long, healthy life and to stay active to the end.  While I can, I expect running to be a big part of that.

Ran 6.37 miles in 55:17 for an average pace of 8:41/mile.  It was pretty cold, but I dressed warmer than I did for Saturday's run, so my fingers didn't get quite so cold.

Core strength (push ups and sit ups this morning) and aerobic this evening.  Took a hill route, followed by mostly flat.  5.24 miles in 45:38 or 8:43/mile.  Wore shorts and long sleeves, but that was a little too much for 57 degrees.  I hardly ever run in the evening and didn't know what to expect.

Interval training with young men, but Alma was the only one who completed 7 with me and another adult.  Fastest miles were 7:28, 7:29, and 7:40, with slow miles before and after each fast one.

4.65 miles in 39:28 or 8:29/mile.  I'm concerned about my achiles tendons again.  Some pain, but not enough to affect my stride.  We'll see how tomorrow's 16 miles go.

Long run with four young men and two other adults.  I brought up the rear with Richard, but he lasted 9.9 miles (longer than he has ever lasted to my knowledge).  We walked much of the time but it was still exercise.  Last 7 miles I sped up to about an 8:30 pace.

We did a route that I've never done before along Utah Lake and enjoyed the scenery.  It is such a nice day that it's almost hot.
