Running Accomplishments:

Ran first marathon after 18 months of training (minus injury time) at age 52 in Logan, Utah on Sept 18, 2010.  Time was 4:16:56 compared to a goal of 4:15.

Second marathon was Oct 1, 2011 in the heat of St George.  Time fell to 4:52:27.

Short-Term Running Goals:

With two marathons behind me, my next goal is to run one in under 4 hours and potentially qualify for Boston within 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

My primary physical goal is to live a long, healthy life and to stay active to the end.  While I can, I expect running to be a big part of that.

Personal:

Married with 8 children and 5 grandchildren.  Youngest child is 13.

Total Distance
5.64

5.64 miles in53:01 for an average pace of 9:24/mi.  First mile was 10:39 and last fraction was 8:44.  I was able to increase the pace each mile, mainly because I wasn't sure what I could do and I took it easy at first.  Had some foot pain, but nothing too bad.

I've taken a long break from running, partly to heal and partly to prepare for a long bike ride to St. George with the boys (about 320 miles in 3 days).  Did 3 26 mile rides in the past week and planning my first 50 mile ride tomorrow.  It's all I can do to keep up with everyone else, but so far they haven't complained about my slowness.

Did you bike to SG yet? That sounds like a super adventure, I guess you take the I-15 access road?

That will be this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday with Alma, three other young men, and three other adults. We will be leaving driving down early on Thursday and riding back. We'll stay off the freeway, but I'm not exactly sure what roads we will take.
