Running Accomplishments:

Ran first marathon after 18 months of training (minus injury time) at age 52 in Logan, Utah on Sept 18, 2010.  Time was 4:16:56 compared to a goal of 4:15.

Second marathon was Oct 1, 2011 in the heat of St George.  Time fell to 4:52:27.

Short-Term Running Goals:

With two marathons behind me, my next goal is to run one in under 4 hours and potentially qualify for Boston within 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

My primary physical goal is to live a long, healthy life and to stay active to the end.  While I can, I expect running to be a big part of that.

Personal:

Married with 8 children and 5 grandchildren.  Youngest child is 13.

Ran 8.5 miles with Bishop Jones and then we finished off the last 8 with the young men.  That means Alma, Ben, and McKay.  Richard started to run, but didn't last very long.  I was very pleased with Alma and Ben, above all.

So how many are going to do the marathon, or is it too early to project? Is it UVM you are shooting for? I might actually come up there and do it again this year. Even if I do Boston it won't be a BQ.

Ten Teachers and Priests are signed up. It's kind of looking like 6 or 8 will actually run it and maybe less will complete. At least 4 and up to 6 adult leaders will finish. Charles is now considering running it, but I don't think he has enough time to get ready.

The run is on May 4th and it's called the Provo City marathon. It is more difficult than the UVM because of the earlier date and a less forgiving course. The first 13 miles down Provo Canyon should be very easy. The last 13 miles averages out to flat on a trip out to Utah Lake and back to the 13 mile point.

The marathon is small enough that I might actually place in my age division, unless you come :).
