Today is our 28th anniversary. I celebrated by running easy for a longer time. Average overall pace was 9:00/mile, or 1:17:43. I've been training over a year for my first marathon, coming up in 3 weeks. My main goal is to finish, but I'd like to also be a little bit competitive. Looking back, I don't think I've done enough speed work (too hard) and I haven't done enough slow work (too humiliating). As a result, I'm not where I'd like to be. I read about "strides" at the end of a long run that seems worth trying, at least to improve my form. |
