Running Accomplishments:

Ran first marathon after 18 months of training (minus injury time) at age 52 in Logan, Utah on Sept 18, 2010.  Time was 4:16:56 compared to a goal of 4:15.

Second marathon was Oct 1, 2011 in the heat of St George.  Time fell to 4:52:27.

Short-Term Running Goals:

With two marathons behind me, my next goal is to run one in under 4 hours and potentially qualify for Boston within 2 years.

Long-Term Running Goals:

My primary physical goal is to live a long, healthy life and to stay active to the end.  While I can, I expect running to be a big part of that.

Married with 8 children and 5 grandchildren.  Youngest child is 13.

Ten miles in 2:10:39.  Average pace 13:04/mile, avg heart rate 128bpm.   I was a little surprised that the average heart rate wasn't higher because the readings were way high on the first mile, going all the way up to 166bpm.  I guess I kept my heart rate low enough the rest of the time to bring down my average.  Compared to my speed last week on the same run, this was much better.  I think the sickness is finally behind me and just the back pains remain.

Other than my parents, my whole family is gone this morning.  Ben is at a Deacons meeting.  Alma is rock climbing.  Elisa and Kevin are at BYU, Charles is on a mission in Washington, Brian is attending medical school in Chicago, Cindy lives with her family in Pima Arizona, and Jeremy is with his family in Florida.  My wife will also be there until Tuesday to help out with their new baby.

The HR monitor always goes nuts until it gets a good connection. But it's the monitor, not you. If you want a good readout from the get-go, you have to splash water on your chest, not always the most pleasant thing early in the morning. Glad your sickness is finally in the rear-view mirrow.
