Second marathon was Oct 1, 2011 in the heat of St George.  Time fell to 4:52:27.

With two marathons behind me, my next goal is to run one in under 4 hours and potentially qualify for Boston within 2 years.

3.76 miles in 47:03 or 12:32/mile at 126bpm.  I think this is the first time all my miles have been under 13 minutes at that heart rate.  It was short sleeve, 61 degree weather this morning and I even started to sweat a little bit, but nothing like indoor treadmill work.

4.62 miles in 57:54 at 12:32/mile and 126bpm.  Same pace and heart rate as yesterday, but different distance.  Talked with another runner along the way about the beautiful 59 degree weather.  After he moved on, I noticed that my heart rate was in the high 130's and my max heart rate turned out to be 145bpm, but most of the rest of the time, I kept it real low to get the 126bpm average.

I'm thinking I need to do some fast running soon.  All this slow stuff feels really good, but I think I need to start developing speed too.

7.31 miles in 1:12:39 or 9:56/mile and 149bpm.  Actually, I hardly ever went at that pace with that heart rate.  Sometimes, I ran at a 14 minute pace with under 130bpm.  Other times, I ran closer to an 8 minute pace with a heart rate around 160bpm.  More or less, I ran as fast as I could to the end of each mile and then got my heart rate down below 130 before racing to the end of the next mile.

I want to learn to run faster and so I'm trying not to totally neglect the speed work.

4.88 miles in 1:01:52, or 12:41/mile at 126bpm.  Max was lower than usual at 134.  Still enjoying great weather at 47 degrees this morning.

About 5.5 miles in about 52 minutes, or about 9:30/mile and not a low heart rate run.  Woke up to a completely dead GPS.  So, I tried to go fast today.  It was 47 degrees this morning and it's supposed to get up to 64 degrees by 10:00 tomorrow morning.  (That would be 4 hours after the start time for the Utah Valley Marathon, in which my brother and my son will participate.)
